Jazz (Big Band)
"Larry Phillips has been playing "Big Band" music since 1928, when he formed his first 12 piece band. He became a popular figure throughout the midwest while touring, and has many shows to his credit. Some of these include the Muehlbach Hotel, the Elms Hotel, the Playmoor Ballroom, and Riverside Park. He was also a noted figure throughout the south and southwest. Along with all this, Larry Phillips was a popular D.J. on WHB in Kansas City, during the 1930's, at which time his band broadcasted live from Sni-Bar gardens on this station." "The "Big Band" sound of Larry Phillips has been enjoyed by many throughout the years. This album is a selection of various live recordings made by Larry's band during the 1940's."
