Album UK 2005 on Casket Music label
Rock (Alternative Rock)
Laruso began life in August 2002 when songwriter/guitarist Darren Smith met vocalist Jason Abel. The pair recorded ‘Over Again’ in a bedroom studio and over the following months wrote and recorded an album’s worth of material. Drummer Max Williams (ex Alec Empire/No Johoda) joined shortly afterwards. Earlier last year Simon Hills (bass) and second guitarist Carl Bown completed the line up of this Sheffield band. From the moment the band found their sound Laruso were the fully formed product. When they step on stage they ooze professionalism, and their slick live performances have earned them support slots with the likes of Million Dead, Number One Son, Fightstar, and Yourcodenameis:Milo. Laruso’s sound is all-encompassing, with the jarring discordance and angular post-hardcore riffage of songs like 'Contagious' providing a stark contrast with the warm, intricate harmonies and pop sensibilities of 'Follow'. Imagine the sound of Alice In Chains, Incubus and Faith No More fucking Helmet, Sevendust and Glassjaw in a dark alley in Sheffield, and you can see just why they have created such a buzz in the UK scene. The band are now releasing their stunning debut album ‘Bring It On’ through Casket Music on the 23rd May, and will then be heading out on a full UK tour throughout May and June to support the release.
