Las Cajas Del Ritmo is an open project that includes various members of the Nortec Colective. In the same way that Nortec has tambora and norteña samples as a starting point, LCDR tracks are based around drum machines from the 80s, 70s and before, processing and editing their sounds and sequencing abilities, with very little additional instrumentation, which is usually done using old analog equipment. For occasional LCDR live appearences, rows of up to 12 drum machines and analog synths are hooked up, then programmed, mixed and processed in live improvisations.
