Jazz and Classical
Laterna is a Polish free-improv band, founded by Ryszard Latecki in the mid-2000s to discover new areas of contemporary acoustic music. Their improvisations, influenced by post-jazz, post-psychedelic and ethnic elements, are rooted in the libertarian spirit of the late sixties and seventies. In 2005, Laterna presented an eponymous debut album. It was recorded at the Rogalów Analogowy studio on the vintage tube equipment and released as a limited edition LP by OBUH Records. The second 2xCD album was released by OBUH four years later. Two tracks, Brzeszczot Lateckiego and Wariacje Z Brzytwą, are dedicated to Steve Reich. Laterna line-up Ryszard Latecki – trumpet, harmonium, various winds Gintautas Gascevičius – percussion Bart Pałyga – cello, overtone singing, Tibetan trumpet Tadeusz Wielecki – double bass
