Reggae
Laurel & Hardy are Paul Dawkins, born October 1962, London, England/UK and Anthony Robinson (2), April 1962, London, England/UK. Before entering the reggae scene in 1978 the duo tried their luck at performing soul but found the DJ style more absorbing. Their songs feature humourous and topical subjects such as video piracy, police harrassment, the threat of nuclear war and road safety. Their debut record on Fashion Records, 'You're Nicked' went to number 10 in the UK charts. They performed a session on John Peel's radio show in October 1982, which has not been commercially released. Signed to CBS, they went on university tours supporting Pigbag, and later supported by Benjamin Zephaniah. However single 'Clunk Click' failed to chart and they did not have much further commercial success.
