Lauro Santa María Cámara

(Mérida, Yucatán, February 27, 1894 - Mérida, Yucatán, April 11, 1950) Troubadour and composer. He cultivates music empirically and becomes a great performer of the mandolin. In the twenties he started as a troubadour. In the neighborhood of San Cristóbal he directs a small group made up of Antonio Castilla and the brothers Antonio and Fausto Centeno. He stands out as a guitarist and as one of the first performers of the requinto. He formed a duet with "Chel" Suárez toured several states of the Mexican Republic performing Yucatecan songs. After that, he was a member of Dueto Gómez-Santamaría with Pepe Gómez. In 1926 he was director of the "Cuarteto Yucatán" and later member of the "Quinteto Yucatán".
