Le Pecore Nere are formed in Rome in the early 60s by a group of four young music fans: on keyboards , said Kiko, son of the famous composer Giovanni Fusco (memorable his soundtrack for the film "I Delfini" of Francesco Maselli with the single "What A Sky, Su Nel Cielo" sung by Nico Fidenco), guitarist Stefano Mercanti, coming from Little Boys, on drums Enzo Tarantino and on bass Mauro Chiari, coming from Svitati of Leo of Sanfelice, of which guitarist was Lucio Battisti. It 's Lucio Battisti to chair the jury of the first edition of the Festival dei Complessi of Rieti that Le Pecore Nere are awarded. But it is a write to the legendary Piper Club of Rome, which enables the group to get noticed by the manufacturer Ettore Zeppegno that puts them under contract to RCA Italian.
