Lea is an R&B singer born and raised in Queens, New York to a Puerto Rican mother and a Dominican father. She was signed to Blackground records in 2004, and in addition to working with Lil Flip, she has worked with ThaCornaBoyz, Mario Winans, Brian Michael Cox, Static, Ryan Leslie, Trackstarz, Trackmasters, Rico Love, Fat Joe, and more. In 2011, she was signed to 50 Cent's G-Note label as its first female artist. In 2012, Lea became the first ever Youth Ambassador of the Latino Commission on AIDS.
