Back Cover Blurb: Huddie Ledbetter aka Lead Belly dies on December 6, 1949, cut down by ALS - the same disease that prematurely the life of New York Yankees iron man first baseman Lou Gehrig. Lead Belly's untimely passing brought to a close one of the most amazing career arcs of the 20th Century's first half. Twice sentenced to lengthy prison terms down south, his musical talents won his release both times. Eventually he was embraced by a wide demographic of folk music enthusiasts whose enthusiasm helped carry his singular music around the globe. This collection features some of his most beloved songs.
