A.k.a. Elizabeth 'Lee' Miller
American model, photographer, and war correspondent, born April 23, 1907 in Poughkeepsie, New York, USA and died July 21, 1977 in Chiddingly, England. She first entered the world of photography in 1927 in New York as a model for Vogue. In 1929 she traveled to Paris, where she became both model and muse to Man Ray. After her return to New York in 1932 she established a photography studio, which she abandoned in 1934 to marry Egyptian businessman Aziz Eloui Bey. During the Second World War, she became an acclaimed photographer and war correspondent for Vogue. After the war she settled in London with the leading British surrealist artist and poet Roland Penrose, whom she married in 1947.
