Recorded live at Maritime Hall in San Francisco, California U.S.A. after a 16 year hiatus from performing. This CD/DVD set includes a 4 camera video shoot featuring Mad Professor backed by the Robotics Band. The CD & DVD is fully mastered in stero & 5.1 Dolby. Also included are interviews, hip-hop remix, biography, and liner notes. A towering, though eccentric, figure in the history of reggae music, Lee "Scratch" Perry is responsible to a large degree for making dub and reggae music the presence that it is within the world of pop music. His innovation in both songwriting and recording was bold, clever, and utterly pioneering, helping to shape and mold roots music into a new form rife with potential for experiment. He appears here playing live with another pioneer of reggae production, The Mad Professor. Backed by The Robotics, the pair perform such songs as "My Secret Laboratory," "Introducing Myself," "Jungle Safari," "I Am A Madman," "Roast Fish And Cornbread," "Come Go With Lee," "Heads Of The Government," "Bucky Skank," and Open Door." This video (that also includes a CD with all the music in the video), depicts an amazing musician and his achievements. The photography does not have the best quality, most of the video is dark and the rest of the musicians are always in the background. The title of this video says "Lee Scratch meets Mad Professor", but I did not see Mad Professor anywhere, maybe is one of those musicians left in the background. The best in this DVD is the sound quality (it even has the Dolby 5.1 option) and the music. Lee Scratch is one of my favorites musicians in dub/reggae, it mixes all kind of sounds to create extraordinary songs, they can take you from the mood to the extasis. Something funny about this video is that Lee Perry is smoking weed along footage, you may feel the smell of weed in your living room. The CD tracklisting printed on the back is incorrect. The correct is entered above. Also released on CD as: "Lee "Scratch" Perry Live At Maritime Hall" (1997).
