The association of Lee Ritenoir and Dave Grusin goes backa long way; they met at a party at the home of Sergio Mendes, Lee then did some sessions with the Brazilian fusion musician that were produced by Grusin.By 1975 they had a working band with renowned session drummer Harvey Mason in residence at Los Angeles' "Baked Potato" jazz spot. Since then they have pursued almost parallel careers in session work, film scores and teaching, both delivering an impressive series of recordsshowcasing their virtuosity and feeling. This session features an all-star band performing a satisfying programme of fusion grooves over which Lee, Dave and the rest of the band show why their beautiful craftsmanship is in such demand. - Steve Barrow
