Legion is a Romanian thrash metal/hardcore band founded in Seini, in 1994. Biography: The band was formed in Seini, a town in northwest Romania, in 1994. The first line-up consisted of: Rudolf "Rudi" Stauder – vocals, Ciprian Tarta – drums, Otto Ulman – guitars, and Csaba Szöllösy - bass. The style of the band is hardcore/thrash with various influences. Between 1995 and 1997, Legion recorded four demos that received good reviews in the specialized mass media: 1995 – Lista Neagră [The Black List] (seven-track demo), 1996 – Rezistă [Hang on] (seven-track demo), 1996 – Live (six-track live demo), and 1997 – 3 (seven-track demo). Between 1997 and 1998, Alex "Himi" Papp acted as the band's second guitarist. In 1998, Cosmin Cadar replaced Ciprian Tarta. In 1999, Legion were offered a record deal with Promusic Prod. from Cluj-Napoca. As a result, the band recorded its debut album entitled "Marfă" at the "Glas Transilvan" Studio in Cluj-Napoca and officially released it on December 13, 1999. At the time, "Marfă" was widely considered the best thrash/hardcore album in Romania. After a several-year long hiatus, in 2006 Legion started writing material for the second studio album "Black Underground." It was recorded at the "Denevér" Studio in Szolnok, Hungary, and released by the Hungarian label Hammer Music in April 2009. It contains an intro plus eight aggressive and technical tracks dealing with social issues. "Black Underground" is the first album Legion recorded in English. The follow-up was a tour which included both Romanian and Hungarian dates. In 2009, Legion also celebrated its 15th anniversary, being one of the longest standing metal bands in Romania. In May 2010, Cosmin left the band in order to pursue other musical projects, but briefly returned in 2011 for the last shows in support of "Black Underground." In 2010, Legion started work on the next material, but they were forced to delay it several times due to constant issues with the drummer position. In October 2015, the band finally recorded the EP "Ghost Killer" and confirmed the super-talented Nabil Karsheh as the new permanent drummer.
