Band,
The Lenya Hobnoobs Theatre Company was a theatre co-operative founded in London in 1987 by radical gay artist David Bunnett. The group was originally created to workshop and produce the satirical show AIDS the Musical, but went on to stage two other productions with a left-wing slant. David Bunnett named the company after a fictional lesbian writer and artist. Bunnett chose the name "Lenya" to suggest a persecuted Russian radical, and "Hobnoobs" after a well-known UK brand of biscuits, which he thought sounded vaguely exotic. He concocted a complete life history for the character. Recordings Music from the shows was distributed on cassette under the Poison Girls' XNTRIX label. Recordings were AIDS The Musical in 1989 (a live recording at the Melkweg in Amsterdam), Desert Storm in 1991 (a studio recording), and Mother Russia (music recorded live at Chat's Palace 1991, vocals recorded in Xntrix studios 1992).
