After Ria Valk had a hit in Holland with "Leo" at the end of 1976, her producer for Basart Records Eddy Ouwens teamed up with the artistic manager of Basart Records Tony Berk, better known as former DJ and program-manager for Radio Noordzee International and third man completed with A&R and promotion-manager Theo Smit to record their novelt-hit "Leo's Mars". Three-and-a-half years later they gave it one more chance with "Het Ding", the old 1950-hit "The thing" of Phil Harris, of whose recording of the original Dutch version was a huge hit in Holland that same year by the famous KRO radio-orchestra Orkest Zonder Naam, led by Ger de Roos. They created a funny silly-little-man-act, inspired by the Three Jacquets, but both times it sadly failed to make an impression.
