Leomia Boyd also known as Sister Leomia Boyd, was born Leomia Gates in Aberdeen, Mississippi on August 3, 1950, she passed away from pancreatic cancer on May 9, 2016 (aged 65), passing away at home in Aberdeen, Mississippi. Sister Boyd was a Grammy nominated gospel singer, nominated for her album "That’s The Way The Lord Works" in 1989 losing to Aretha Franklin, while her 1982 song “Stranger In The City” reached number 3 on the Billboard gospel charts.
