Singer of World and Country
Canadian Country musician and singer. (not to be confused with the U.S. orchestra leader of the same name) was carving out his own place in the music world while working in the Calgary, Alberta scene. He released a single under the name Lee Roy, on RCA Canada in 1973, "The Sweetest Thing This Side Of Heaven" (RCA-1121), taken from his 1972 debut album on RCA Canada (KCL-10003), produced by Gary Buck. The album contained six of Leroy Anderson's own songs. Lee Roy followed-up with a self-titled album on RCA in 1976 ((KXL1-0162), which turned out four nationally charted singles, including his signature tune "Balzac Boogie", one of three songs on the album that he wrote.
