This is the 7th LP recording by the popular Minnesota Scandinavian Ensemble, who first performed by that name in 1975 on Garrison Keller's "A Prarie Home Companion" radio show. For more than a decade the Ensemble has delighted radio listeners, dancers, and audiences throughout the U.S.A., Canada, and Scandinavia. In 1983 they performed for the Arrival of King Olav V of Norway in Minneapolis. The previous year the Ensemble performed for the royalty and heads of State from the 5 Scandan Countries during the Scandinavia Today festival. In 1986 they were filmed by Norwegian Broadcasting for a series of TV Documentaries. Since 1974 the Ensemble has been the leader in preserving and promoting Scandinavian folk dance music, both old and new. This recording includes tunes never before recorded, some old standards brought to new light, and new tunes and songs that are sure to elicit some pleasant surprises. The song "I'll Be Home For Lefse" captures the Scandinavian holiday spirit as does "It's Yust Vun Av Dose Tings" which is the latest in Scandinavian-American dialect recordings. As always, recordings by the Minnesota Scandinavian Ensemble are fashioned for dancing, and so we invite you to Waltz, Schottische, Polka, and Hambo. Or just make yourself comfortable and enjoy the happy, toe-tapping music.
