Leslie Hall rose to fame as an internet celebrity because of her "Gem Sweater Museum", a collection of hundreds of gaudy sweaters with sparkling sequins and rhinestones. She noticed that a lot of the emails she received were about the gold stretch pants she wore. Inspired by this she recorded her first single, "Gold Pants", which became an underground hit. She originally was billed with her band "Leslie & the Ly's," but has since gone solo. Since then she has expanded her act into a Hip Hop/Dance extravaganza that explores and celebrates midwestern cliches and kitsch. Housecats, spandex, big hair, country music and body positivity are the staple of Hall's mostly self-released albums, all very tongue-in-cheek while legitimate hip hop. She has gone on tour in the US every year since 2006 and was a featured performer on the children's program "Yo Gabba Gabba".
