A.k.a. Lyda Chen-Argerich
Lyda Chen (b. 1964) is a Swiss violist and the eldest daughter of pianist Martha Argerich. She was born in Geneva and initially studied violin at the Geneva Conservatory before moving to China to attend the Central Conservatory Of Music, Beijing. After returning to Europe, Lyda received a law degree from the University of Geneva in 1992. She continued her musical studies as a student of Gad Levertov at Tel-Aviv University. Throughout her career, Chen had performed with numerous instrumental ensembles all over the world and participated in many prestigious festivals. Since 1996, Lyda had been collaborating extensively with her mother and other musicians from Argerich circle, including Mischa Maisky, Ivry Gitlis, Renaud Capuçon and Gautier Capuçon.
