A.k.a. Carlos Daniel Navarro And Luis Ángel Silva
Lobo y Melón was a Mexican group of Son Cubano, which during the sixties represented an institution within Afro-Caribbean music in the Caribbean and Latin America. Formed in the first line by the percussionist Carlos Daniel "Lobo" Navarro and the singer Luis Ángel Silva "Melón"; accompanied by Mauro Enrique "Gallina" Chávez (piano), Manuel "Perrote" Osorio (trumpet), Andrés "Mucha Trampa" López (bass) and Mario "Cholito" González (timbal) with variations in the lineup throughout their history including for example Ángel "El Cucarachito" Martínez, Crescencio "el Pajarito" Guzmán and Luis Ortega. Known as the creators of the "chua-chúa" (substitution of musical instruments for vocal sounds, like jazz scat, but without improvisation), they were not really so.
