Logan Takahashi returns to Ghostly with Crema, an eight-track journey traversing dub-techno, earthly electronics, and meticulously crafted melodies. Crema wriggles, bounces, and stretches its way through the senses. The EP’s tactile exploration of rhythm and timbre is testament to Takahashi’s instinctual approach. Crema follows Takahashi’s debut solo album, 2016’s NoGeo, and was largely composed on hardware for live sets over the past two years. As such, it is both a portrait of the live moment, and a snapshot of the artist in motion. After the ominous yet inviting "Intro" comes a series of buoyant tracks that balance jubilance and restraint. Crema’s magic lies within its penchant for a kind of rhythmic playfulness that taps into a sense of oncoming elation—all punctuated by arpeggiations that trickle down the subconscious. From first stepping behind a table of electronics with Teengirl Fantasy to breaking out as a solo artist, Takahashi has explored a widescreen vision of experimental electronic music.
