Loose Caboose

Band, *1972
Reggae and Country

In January 1972 the Loose Caboose band was called Road Hog. The next reincarnation in 1975 was called, the Alan Fuller band. Then five gifted musicians decided to add Reggae roots to their music. Inspired by Bob Marley and the Wailers, Jimmy Cliff and other Jamaican visionaries, the band sought to expose the Northeast to Reggae. They learned their lessons well. Coming together in Wendell, Massachusetts, the original members included Allyn Dorr on Bass, Jonathan Dorr (Allyns brother) on guitar, Jim Cheney on drums and David Boatwright on guitar. In 1976 Boo Pearson joined the band on percussion. In 1977 Ras Jahn W. Bullock was added on percussion and background vocals. Inspired by Jah Rastafari Ras Jahn began writing and singing his own songs. Eventually he became lead singer and front man. Caboose gradually added more Reggae to their repertoire, until it was all strictly roots. In 1978 Ras Jahn took his first trip to Jamaica in an effort to meet Bob Marley and tell him what was going on with the Reggae scene in the Northeast. It was a successful trip. Inspired by the news from Jamaica the Loose Caboose continued the struggle with determination. In 1979 Bob Marley invited Ras Jahn to bring the band to Jamaica to record their first album at his Tuff Gong studio. Bob said "just come to Jamaica and Ill take care of the rest. Six musicians and their sound engineer made the trip. Allyn Dorr on bass, Randell Clunes on drums, Jonathan Dorr on guitar, David Boatwright on guitar, Boo Pearson on percussion, Ras Jahn Bullock on vocals and percussion and Monda AKA Mickey Chisum on sound. While they were arranging for the financing for the trip they learned that Bob was in Africa and he was very ill. Tuff Gong was being shut down and reorganized. Bob had already made arrangements with the band. His business manager and accountant, Colin Leslie, made new arrangements for the band to record at Dynamic Studio in Trenchtown. Geoffrey Chung and Clive Hunt were brought on board as engineer and producer. From this collaboration came the first album "Dealers World".
