Los Buhos (The Owls) was an Argentine group from Constitución, CABA, Buenos Aires. Composed by the brothers Juan Merlo and Augusto Merlo, Jorge Rodríguez and Jorge Tacconi, they formed the first Beat group of Argentina. Created on 1964, they group originally existed as a friends band called Los Panter since 1959, then became an amateur group called Los Morgan. A characteristic of the group was that thanks to the influence of Bolero music, they sung with four voices. one of the things that made the Beatles popular. On 1964, producer and talent hunters from CBS, predicting the looming Beat explosion, took notice of them and offered them a contract to become the Argentine Beatles. The group's first single Sin Corazon / Tu, La Unica was an instant success, as the company expected. They covered translated Beat songs, and while they had their own compositions, CBS never allowed the group to record them, the credit of the first Argentine Rock songs later being given to Los Beatniks's Rebelde and Los Gatos's La Balsa. The produced 2 LPs and 6 singles between 1964 and 1965, but the group quickly lost popularity and eventually disbanded in 1968. They were pretty much forgotten as the rise of Rock Nacional and Argentine rock compositions took hold of the market.
