World, Folk and Pop
Los Matadores is a band created in Diago Suarez (north-west of Madagascar) in the mid 70's under the leadership of Marcello Papperi, a retired army legionnaire from Italy. He was not a musician but he loved music. He held a restaurant called "Le Saigonnais" where the band made sessions and played. Many of the band's tracks were inspired by him. He even wrote titles for these daughters (Alda... Je Pense À Toi Chérie / Alda) and even sang them. One of their titles is: En Italie... A Napoli / La Jeunesse D'Aujourd'hui and referring to the origins of the father. The group "Los Matadores" was composed of musicians from all over the Indian Ocean but also beyond, such as Barboza (5), the saxophonist who came from Argentina. Many of the soldiers who stopped at Diego Suarez knew this restaurant and this famous group.
