Band, ES
Rock and Pop
One of the first Spanish pop-bands, they started in 1960 adapting italian and english songs ("Unchained melody": "Melodía desencadenada"). Thay also adapted traditional songs with a modern taste: "Los cuatro muleros", (following the wave of Los Pekenikes), El relicario-twist, Campanilleros or Malagueña. The band were: Carlos Guitart (bass), José Luis "Joe" González (piano, organ), José Antonio Otero (guitar) and Manuel Escobar (vocals). Later Otero was replaced (briefly) by Luis Eduardo Aute, and later by Fernando Sánchez. But he was also replaced in 1962 by Manolo Díaz, and they got a drummer, Jorge Matey. In 1963 Díaz went to work to Liberia and was replaced by Tony Martínez. In 1965, Tony Martínez and Manolo Fernández (who has replaced Joe González in 1964) split to found Los Bravos with Mike Kennedy. Soon later, Carlos Guitart joined "Los Flecos", Jorge Matey joined Los Pekenikes. José Luis "Joe" González founded Los Pasos in 1964. Manolo Díaz started his solo career as composer and producer.
