Lou Armstrong

US Rapper. Born in New York City, in the borough of Manhattan to his Dominican mother and Puerto Rican father, who abruptly left when he was merely 3 years old, Luis Ramos learned the art of hustle and hard work at a young age. His immigrant mother was forced to move throughout all the boroughs of New York, working under the table jobs just to make ends meet. Moving to Massachusetts at the age of 10, Lou began to mold his lifestyle after his mentor and step-father, Biembenido Alberto Duarte, who Lou considers his real father. Learning the tricks of the street hustle from that age on, Lou began to see and experience dramatic events that altered him for the rest of his life. By the age of 13, Lou was penning his own lyrics on the streets of Boston. Influenced by rappers such as LL Cool J, Big Daddy Kane, Rakim and Kool G Rap, Lou began to move crowds with words driven from the struggles he was experiencing. Losing his brother, Alejandro, while in high school drove Lou to new heights on the local battle rap scene. He began to go to places like Downtown Crossing, Ruggles Station, Forest Hills and other subway stations around the city to battle other rappers and earn his respect as a Latin rapper. In the hallways of Charlestown High, Lou would have large crowds of people gather around and watch while he would freestyle and battle other rappers for hours; a star was being born.
