Musician of Jazz
American jazz trombonist (born November 12, 1922 in Rankin ,Pennsylvania; died June 7, 1990 in Berlin, Germany). In the 1950s he played swing music with musicians such as Lionel Hampton and Charlie Ventura. In the early 1960s he began performing in the West Coast jazz and soul jazz genres with musicians like Cat Anderson and Charles Mingus. He worked also as session musician with appearances on recordings by the Turtles, the Righteous Brothers, and the Beach Boys among others. In 1970 he went to Europe, living first in Germany, then in Switzerland. He founded the Afro-pop ensemble Mombasa, and also played in the Krautrock band Agitation Free.
