Louis Armstrong
The Centennial Anthology

Compil. US 2006 on Master Classics label
Jazz (Dixieland, Swing, Big Band)

"Louis Armstrong's station in the history of jazz is unimpeachable. If it weren't for him, there wouldn't be any of us" - Dizzy Gillespie This digitally remastered CD/DVD collection celebrates the wonderful world of Louis Armstrong through both audio and video experiences. The CD portion runs the gamut from his earliest triumphs, such as the spectacular 1931 recording of "Stardust," all the way up to the 1967 treasure "What a Wonderful World." The DVD portion is equally diverse, ranging from a clip from a rare 1932 film short of the song "I'll Be Glad When You're Dead, You Rascal You," to a riveting version of his classic "Hello, Dolly!" from a 1968 television broadcast. Painstakingly assembled with everyone from the collector to the novice in mind, this exemplary collection is a delight for one and all.
