A.k.a. LOURETT RUSSELL GRANT
Lourett Russell Grant originates from New York. She is a model, recording artist ,songwriter, musician and record producer who is known for her disco hit "Hot To Trot " which she wrote and co-produced with Silvio Tancredi ( Atlantic /Atco Records ). Together they formed custom label Alvarez records and Northcott productions. One of Grant's early supporters was John Benitez( Jellybean) who helped in promoting her single in the Manhattan Disco Nightclub scene (Xenons) . National Music Report states Hot to Trot as most the added disco song in the Black and White disco clubs nationwide during the late 70's. Major labels WEA (Warner Music Group ) and Quality Records in Canada then signed on the beautiful artist with major distribution. Grant's song was known as having one of the most hard hitting drum solos in disco memory and horse gallops that panned acoustically across the dance floor which added excitement to Grant's emotionally plaintive vocals. Her strong image dressed as a western cowgirl in black leather jeans, cowboy hat and gun holsters added excitement to the theme of the song. After moving from disco nightclubs to national airplay on the radio, On Feb 23, 1980 the single came onto the Disco Top Billboard 100 Chart at #70 with a bullet. Some personal appearances were in Baby O's disco in Acapulco, Feel like Dancing (Network T.V.) Montreal Canada and the legendary Ice Palace Disco in New York City. Her producer Tancredi was dedicated to expanding Grant's talent further . Being the son of Italian Consulate Armand Tancredi allowed him privileges to mingle in high circles in Italy. It's been said that Fredrico Fellini saw a photo of Grant and was inspired by her beauty for one of his films but the aloof Grant seemed disinterested . Grant and Tancredi soon departed ways and Grant went on to record her new single "I know what you need" with Vice President of RCA (BMG) Warren Shatz . She continued recording demos and writing music with some of the best musicians in the industry such as Paul Pesco (Madonna,Hall and Oates), Fernando Saunders (Jeff Beck ,Pat Benatar ) and Grammy winner Keith Diamond (Mic Jagger , Billy Ocean). Keith Diamond and Grant were known to have a brief relationship . It's said that she was the lyrical inspiration for some of his hit recordings .
