Lucebert, (born in Amsterdam, 1924, Sept. 15th; died in Alkmaar, 1994, May 10th) was one of the most important Dutch poets in the years after the Second World War & at the same time an artist in plastic media. He won the Amsterdam Poetry Prize in 1954 Lucebert exhibitions have been held in Holland, Great-Britain, Germany, Italy (where he received the Premio Marzotto 1962 in Milan and took part in the Biennale of Venice 1964), and in the United States. Lucebert made part of the COBRA-movement, a European avant-garde movement active from 1949 to 1952. He lived and worked in the Netherlands.
