Born June 16, 1931, died April 11, 2000. A Polish-American composer and musician born in Detroit, she spent most of her career in New York after studying composition with Edgar Varèse. She wrote a number of pieces for instruments of her own construction, including the timbre piano: a variety of prepared piano.
