Singer of Latin, Pop and Rock
Cuban singer born in Palma Soriano in the Oriente province of Cuba in 1942. He was a teenage rock and roll idol on the island until the communist dictatorship forced him into exile in the United States. He died in Miami in 2002 at age 60. He was famous for cover versions of American artists such as Elvis Presley, Ricky Nelson (2), Jerry Lee Lewis, & Carl Perkins. In 1962 he had a top ranking hit on the Latin Music charts with his cover of Teen Age Idol.
