Irish singer and folk musician, born 17 November 1940 in Dublin, Ireland, died 30 January 1984 in Dublin, Ireland. He was a founding member of The Dubliners who played with the band until his death. He is regarded as one of Ireland's greatest folk musicians and a bridge in Dublin has been named after him.
