Lusthansa was a German New Wave (NDW - Neue Deutsche Welle) band, which was formed in 1981 in Trier, Germany. The name Lusthansa is based on a pun (lusty airline), originally created by the German company Harlekin - the band still uses the same typeface and identical colors as the German airline Lufthansa. In 1982, the band was picked up by famed Boney M. producer Frank Farian and the first Single "Nix Neues in Poona" was released - two albums and six singles followed, all released by Hansa / Ariola in the German speaking markets. During the first three years of musical existence, the band performed over six hundred times (with some concerts lasting three to four hours). The music was typical 1980's German New Wave pop, but the lyrics set them apart ... ranging from satirical blurbs about the Bhagwan Sree Rajneesh movement (It's better to have a beer in Trier than a Bluna in Puna) to more politally charged lyrics against the American Nuclear arsenal in Germany during the Cold War (Atomwaffenfreie Zonen) or even supporting graffiti art on city walls (Traumsprayer). In the year 2012, Lusthansa received a Lifetime Achievement Award by the city of Trier for their musical work as well as their continuing positive influence on young local artists. ----------------- Original band members (Originalbesetzung): Jutta Pardeike (Gesang) Pello Bender (Gitarre) Eddy Hinterscheid (Schlagzeug) Uwe Meinelt (Keyboards/Gesang) Peter Heckmann (Bass) Second edition (Neue Besetzung): Jutta Pardeike (Gesang) Pello Bender (Gitarre) Eddy Hinterscheid (Schlagzeug) Michael Kernbach (Bass) Michael Schneider (Keyboards) Additionally feat.: Ali Bisenius (Keyboards)
