Founded in 1983 by Charles Ravier and Maurice Bourbon, the MÉTAMORPHOSES Vocal Ensemble (originally MÉTAMORPHOSES Vocal Ensemble of Paris) proposes to reconstruct and revive the masterpieces of polyphony as well as serving - and bringing about - music of the present day. Where ancient music is concerned, the fifteenth century plays an important part, with particular attention being paid to the revival of French music (Guillaume Dufay, Johannes Ockeghem, Josquin Des Prés, Jean Mouton, Antoine de Bertrand, Guillaume Bouzignac, Eustache Du Caurroy). The Ensemble has also devoted much of its time to Italian and Baroque music, with Carlo Gesualdo, Claudio Monteverdi, Domenico Scarlatti, Antonio Lotti and Johann Sebastian Bach.
