Jazz and contemporary ensemble, successor of the Maarten Altena Ensemble. The band adopted their new name in 2005 when their founder and artistic director Maarten Altena decided to stop all his activities with them. MAE, or M.A.E. or Ensemble MAE as they will now be named was a way to get rid of their creator's name (now absent) while still keeping the link with their past.
