Hailing from japan, M. Fukuda aka. Spiraltone reappears on Drowne Records with his 'Tarkus EP'. This versatile release shows up with finest contemporary techno, and boils it down with two originals beeing placed alongside remixes from Electrorites and Fixeer. The title-track 'Tarkus' is a real gem, and is based on a synth-melody about which the track circles around. Cavernous percussions buzz around, while an ethereal pad shovels it's path out of the back and brings some additional atmosphere along. Well placed snarefires and handsome rides accent the arrangement, and hissing background noises make tension at the right time! Follow-up 'Billion' has a stompy character which is supported by crunchy percussions, snappy hi-hats and adorable shakers. A finely crafted low-frequency synth attracts attention, and a dark pad sews itself up to the choral backing synth. After fading into the main-break 'Billion' opens up and creates space to strike again with brilliant rides! The first remixer is Electrorites from italy, who takes no prisoners and points out that his rework is trimmed to confrontation fromward the first kickdrum! The synth-melody from the original track lays the foundation for a dark but uplifting vibe, which is supported by driving percussions, bright rides, and hard-hitting snarefires! A massive kick makes pressure which is even raised in the breaks when a high-pass filter turns the action upside down! The second rework comes from Fixeer, who is o­ne of mexicos most representative techno artists. He strips 'Tarkus' down to the essence, and restructures it with clear but filthy kicks which lay the foundation for the tracks vibe. Delayed synth fragments pan around and make tension in co-operation with an incoming top-structure. Suddenly a wild ride appears and filters in the action, before the top structure grows and the original tracks familiar synth adds an hypnotic appeal! In conclusion the 'Tarkus EP' covers many facets of techno, and offers different moods which can be unleashed at any hour.
