MEG & Co. is a collective of artists, musicians, & creatives in many different disciplines formed in Upstate South Carolina. In the summer of 2016, founder and curator Meg Swinney met her future bandmates, Charleston musicians Noelle Taylor, Kaylan Pinckney, and Chelesea Boone. Within two months, they were playing their first gig at USC Upstate's Pitches & Pizza festival, and MEG & Co. was born. By summer 2017, they released their debut album, The Spider Room, and announced their upcoming zine submission contest. The four dynamic female musicians decided they wanted to promote their own music, as well as artwork from other creatives all over the world. They decided to open their project up to photographers, digital artists, 3D artists, and artists in other traditional mediums. The MEG & Co. zine, Opalite, conceived in January 2017, is a take on the zine traditions of the 1990s. Each issue is set up like a digital art gallery, with artist bios, social media links, and a breadth of work from each artist.
