Madame X consisted of Los Angeles based vocalists Iris Parker, Valerie Victoria and Alisa Randolph. But it was producer/songwriter/musician Bernadette Cooper, the founding member and drummer of the premier all-female self-contained pop/funk band Klymaxx who came up with the Madame X concept, dediced upon the name, hand-picked its members, and wrote and produced the songs. After internal problems, Cooper, having left Klymaxx to write and produce independently, in 1990 recorded a solo album titled "Drama According To Bernadette Cooper".
