Toronto rap legend MadLocks aka MadLoxx. Passed away August 27, 2013 due to health complications. Many of Toronto’s biggest names got their start on BeatFactory’s Rap Essentials compilations. In 1997, MadLocks, a Jamestown head who rolled with a group called Unit 7, was featured on Volume 2 with a big record called “Gusto” featuring Michelle Ricketts. MadLocks became the first solo recording artist signed to BeatFactory Music in 1998 and used the opportunity to release the single, “In My Life,” featuring R&B crooner, Glenn Lewis, and then a full-length release entitled Nothing To Lose Much To Gain in 1999.
