Maggie Fost is a creative director, designer, and strategist. She established the in-house design department at Merge Records in 2005, overseeing packaging, campaigns, event design, digital platforms, and merchandise for roughly fifty releases per year. At Merge, she is focused on the role of design in connecting artists and fans, and in building community through the visual expression of music. Creative direction, design, and strategy for other clients has encompassed identity design, book design, interactive design, packaging, and all forms of communication design. Prior to joining Merge, Maggie was the Designer in Residence in the College of Design at North Carolina State University, where she taught from 2004 through 2007. Since 2014, she has taught in the Masters in Design program at York University. Maggie previously managed content programming for Shockwave / Atom Films and managed a team of designers and developers at Macromedia.com (Adobe). Before earning her MFA in Design at California College of the Arts, she designed exhibit graphics at the Exploratorium, a museum of art, science, and technology in San Francisco.
