MALIBU 1992 is a personal and careful investigation regarding the postmodern consequences that classical art, crafts, technologies and phobias have generated more than 200 years of decline from 1792 – year of the creation of Cupid and Psyche by Canova – to the era of violent murders in hip-hop. In the latest MALIBU 1992 video also the soundtrack has been self-produced. Filmed and conceived in some unspecified place of the American east coast, it takes place in a space-time uncertainty of actual events, involving the viewer through adolescent memories, subliminal messages, virtual fantasies, cemeterial poetics, metropolitan goth, social status and black-rave affairs. MALIBU 1992, the most immediate solution to fit into the mechanisms of contemporary showbiz, uses its iconographic language itself and its cutting-edge names in order to shorten the distance with celebrities, making itself visible and possibly indispensable to the system. MALIBU 1992 re-states the Italian artistic heritage seizing it without any given rights, in order to set up a solemn museum space within the video – by raising its value into the art market until it becomes an unsaleable object and heritage of the World. Precious materials and classics such as gold, platinum and Capodimonte porcelain have been used to produce MALIBU 1992, a video-workshop of handicrafts and fine jewelry: all visible jewels were produced on purpose. MALIBU 1992 was born from Milan to Los Angeles by an idea of Dorian who, with the assistance of friend Paolo Forchetti (musician, sound designer, video editor), translates his ten-year career as an art director, designer and DJ of Club Plastic – one of the most famous clubs in the World, into a new expression that encompasses their obsession with spiritualism, Gianni Versace, real estates and fame. MALIBU 1992 enjoys the praise and cooperation of Bernhard Willhelm, Versace, Moschino, KTZ and Novembre Magazine.
