The individual behind Mandragora began playing Violin at the age of seven and started the everlasting trial in getting so called music ot of some electronic devices with thirteen. Short after switching to Viola, the classocal training was broken with, followed by first attempts in free improvisation. Mandragora was founded focusing on the interface between the touchable hardware sounds and the electronics, still in belief in side projects and their theoretical and musical sense. From the start it wasn't thought up as a solo project, but unfortunately passengers never apppeared. In early 2001, a demotape was recorded, followed by the first Mandragora live appearance at the Distillery club in Leipzig (Germany). After that there were several gigs on small openairs and sometimes in Leipzig's underground too. The liveact had an incredibly high failure-rate of nearly 50%, so by the way: sorry to all involved promoters at those times, you know who you are... Some new tracks with other musical approaches were performed and recorded, but there was more and more dissatisfaction and with the time it became silent around the project of Mandragora. The idea of introducing the Viola and other "real" instruments survived, works with handmade blings and blongs keep on arising, expect new hybrid music in the future...
