*1971
Marc Bell’s (born in London, Ontario, 1971) comic-books, tiny tip of the magnificent iceberg which is its prolific work, looks forward to perpetuate a certain kind of wild, absurd, wobbly undergound comic-book tradition, filled up with popular landmarks which jump at the face but in way that seems totally unexpected, and systematically astounding. And in the very same time, Marc Bell also produces collages, paintings and heterogeneous assemblies abstract-look-alike which, on their side, take away even more the reader/watcher from this stunning man’s singular and odd creative mind. The exhibitions that results makes you wonder what could happen inside his head : no doubts the assemblage should looks remarkably fascinating. Marc Bell is a hard-to-classify artist, and it’s totally pointless to try to reduce his work in a few lines. His artwork, scattered in many self-published productions, is also viewable in the press (The Montreal Mirror, The Halifax Coast, Vice Magazine…) and in some various anthologies (Kramers Ergot, The Ganzfeld…).
