A.k.a. Marc Edelsen
Marc Edelstein (String Bass) is devoted to American roots music, and he has avidly promoted and performed in folk, bluegrass, country, western swing, rockabilly, gypsy jazz, and rock and roll projects. Marc was a co-founder of the Special Consensus Bluegrass Band, and has written, produced, and performed in the theatrical event Lovesick Blues: Remembering Hank Williams. Other performances include alternative country Robby Fulks’ band; the musical revue Women In My Life with singer-songwriters Bob Gibson and Michael Smith; Tribute to Woody Guthrie, with Josh White Jr., Odetta, Rambling Jack Elliott, and Oscar Brand; the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s country and western auxiliary The CSOakies; Chicago’s premier folk group, The Sons of the Never Wrong; Kathy Chiavola, Vassar Clements, Alice Peacock, Jerry Wicentowski And Lucky Break, Bucky Halker, Al Day and The Sons Of The Never Wrong, The Hard Times Bluegrass Band, and numerous recording projects over the years. A convert to the stage after a lifetime of musical performance, Edelstein made his theatrical debut as string bassist and singer in the “Jeff” award-winning Woody Guthrie’s American Song at the Northlight and Briar Street Theaters, performed in Shakespeare’s As You Like It at the Goodman Theater in Chicago, Smoke On The Mountain, and appeared in over 1,200 performances of Million Dollar Quartet at the Apollo Theater in Chicago. Not without a sense of humor, Marc has also participated in performance artist Brigid Murphy’s outre Milly’s Orchid Show, and been on WBEZ Radio’s Flea Market show as Mournful Marc, the disc jockey who only plays sad songs.
