Musician of Classical and Jazz
Italian jazz trumpet player. Mariani studied music at the Conservatorio G. Nicolini of Piacenza and at the Institute Franco Vittadini of Pavia. He completed his courses at the Civic Jazz Courses of the Civic School of Music in Milan and graduated in Jazz at the Conservatory G. Verdi of Milan. He has played with several jazz bands including the Dixieland Band of Rossano Sportello, Paolo Tomelleri's Big Band, and Gabriele Comeglio's Big Band. He was the leader of the quartet Moby Dicks, of the quintet ZE 5th, and led his own Marco Mariani's Friends quintet, Mariani's Hard Bop Machine sextet, and Bocconi Jazz Business Unit (BJBU). He plays steadily as a solo trumpet in the Jazz Lab Orchestra, in the Jazz Lab Ensemble in Milan, in the Alfredo Rey Orchestra, in Civica Jazz Band in Milan, in the Monte Carlo Night Orchestra by Nick The Nightfly and in Artchipel Orchestra. He's a jazz musician with countless collaborations with famous musicians: Enrico Intra, Franco Cerri, Bruno De Filippi, Carlo Bagnoli, Lino Patruno, Gianni Basso, Marcello Rosa, Antonio Farao, Giovanni Tommaso, Stefano Cerri, Enrico Rava, Giorgio Gaslini, Enrico Pierannunzi, Tullio De Piscopo, Rosario Giuliani, Guy Barker, Bob Brookmeyer, Markus Stockhausen, David Raksin, Eddie Daniels, Max Roach, Kenny Barron, Warren Vaché, Franco D'Andrea, Paolo Fresu, Guido Manusardi, Bobby Watson, David Murray, James Newton, Andrew Hill, Dado Moroni, Fabrizio Bosso, Bruno Tommaso, Rita Marcotulli, Claudio Fasoli, Tino Tracanna, Daniele Scannapieco, Antonello Salis, Lennart Aberg, Riccardo del Fra, Patrice Caratini, Franco Ambrosetti, Kenny Weehler, Renato Sellani, Gianni Ferrio, Jimmy Heat, George Gruntz, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Julie Driscoll, Keith Tippett, Sarah Jane Morris and Quincy Jones, amongst others. He was Artistic Director of the Mib - Music Association in Bocconi, section Jazz/Soul/R&B, and teacher of "Jazz History and Aesthetics", "Jazz Music" and "Techniques Of Jazz improvisation" at Bocconi University, in Milan from 2004 to 2008.
