Composer of Classical
Swiss composer, born in Davos, moved to California in 1975 with her American husband and their children. She was raised in Oberdorf-Stans, Nidwalden and got violin lessons, sang in a children's choir and played in a youth ensemble. She visited the teacher school in Zug, where she additionally started to play piano and recorder and professionalized her violin skills and her voice. At the Lucerne conservatory she developed her violin play under guidance of Herbert Scherz. After her emigration to California, she matriculated at the University Of California, Davis, where she majored and graduated summa cum laude. From 1982 to 1985, she was part of the doctoral composition program at the Brandeis University. Her composition teachers were Richard Swift, Arthur Berger (2) and Martin Boykan. In 1985, she received her Ph.D. and returned to Davis, where she started to teach music theory classes. For her composition, she was granted with numerous prizes and fellowships. Many international classic artists requested her compositions, her works were performed in a number of countries in America and Europe.
