From the sleeve notes: Some countries have laws forbidding the export of their national treasures. So how did Marion Montgomery slip through the net? Thank goodness, her still discernible southern drawl has graced the music scene in Britain long enough for us to be able virtually to claim her as our own. And perhaps, come to think of it, it was the good fortune of the world of quality music that Marion made that career-shaping journey to London in the mid sixties. In Britain Marion has found a loyal and dedicated audience which has enabled her - with husband Laurie Holloway as a valuable ally - to pursue a career of extremely high visibility and impeccable quality. For my money Marion has always been one of the world's very finest exponents of her particular style of singing which in itself is a fast-disappearing art. Happily this gifted lady has a a future career full of further delight and of new achievements in front of her. In the meantime - hats off to one of our national treasures! John Dankworth
