French chanteuse Marianne Dissard lived for close to twenty years in Tucson, Arizona where she recorded her ​baroque desert noir chanson with members from Calexico and Giant Sand. Joey Burns (Calexico), Sergio Mendoza and Christian Ravaglioli ​have ​composed albums for her. Brian Lopez and Gabriel Sullivan (XIXA, Giant Sand)​, Sergio Mendoza, Naïm Amor, Budo, Arthur Vint, Allyson Ezell have backed her live​.​ A writer in both French and English, her lyrics have been sung by​ artists including​ Howe Gelb and Amor Belhom Duo. Director of music videos and documentaries (Lonesome Cowgirls, Drunken Bees, Post No Bills, Low y Cool and Celtic Traveler), she documented her hometown of Tucson through films on Giant Sand, chicano lowrider bike clubs and Warhol cowboys. Dissard produces albums by French artists including (Orso Jesenska) and has collaborated with Naïm Amor, Calexico, Sergio Mendoza, Fredda, Sammy Decoster, BK-One, Budo, Howe Gelb, Christian Ravaglioli. She performed live from 2014 to 2016 with French guitarist Yan Péchin, known for his work with Alain Bashung and Brigitte Fontaine). Her first book, Not Me, a memoir, is available from winter 2019. She currently lives between Ramsgate, England and Basilicata, Italy.
